Handlooms

Handloom cloths of Kerala are very popular all over the World. The fabric is nice but strong. Kannur handloom is unique and world famous. Kannur, known as the Manchester of the East stands first in the export of handloom in the state. Places like Balaramapuram ( Thiruvanthapuram), Chendamangalam ( Ernakulam) are also known for its unique handloom varieties.
Kerala Sarees are symbolic of Kerala culture and tradition and is not seen anywhere else in India. The elegant Kerala Saree, off white with gold border is unique for their natural colour, texture and golden border. These sarees lend an extraordinary elegance to the person wearing it. Every Malayali woman possesses at least one Kerala sari in her wardrobe.

Traditionally women in Kerala also wear a two piece cloth named 'settu mundu', also known as 'mundum neriyathum' with natural body colour and beautiful border shades, which when worn, exactly look like a saree.

Pavithra Mothiram

Pavithra mothiram is considered as a divine ring created in gold by the traditional gold smith from Payyanur. The special features of this ring is a knot like carving embossed on it.

Panchaloha

The idols made of 'panchaloha' by the Craft man from Kunhimangalam (village near payyanur) can be seen in many temples in Kerala and the neighboring states.This is a sacred job exchanged through generations. Apart from the idols, traditional lamps (Nilavilakku) crafted here are known all over India.
Another unique and sacred oil lamp crafted from here is Lakshmi vilakku, this is a traditional oil lamp moulded in panchaloha or in Bronze with intricate designs and carvings embossing the figure of goddess Lakshmi.

Greengold

Uravu is an organization based at Thrikkaipetta in Wayanad district, established for improving the lives of downtrodden social groups, the traditional rural artisans and the Indigenous people, especially the women among them, in the hilly Wayanad district. Uravu runs a Crafts Centre for bamboo craft and a bamboo nursery in Thrikkaipetta village and two sales outlets in Wayanad district. Uravu also participates in various craft and trade fairs across the country.
